Reporting to the SVP, Portfolio Strategy & Leadership, the Senior Director, Program Lead will have accountability for the overall vision, strategy, execution, and related development deliverables for Viridians FcRn franchise. The role involves extensive collaboration with internal stakeholders, external opinion leaders and consultants, and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and implement a comprehensive program strategy. The role includes responsibility for internal and external project communications; cross-functional integration and alignment; product life cycle planning and achievement of corporate and program goals. The ideal candidate has expertise in program leadership, a strong scientific background, and a demonstrated ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively in a dynamic, pre-commercial biotech environment.
This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Leadership and management of all aspects of complex, global development programs, including those focused on multiple indications
- Establish a program vision and strategy that ensures the maximum value and growth for the product
- Anticipate internal and external drivers of change to program strategy and respond by making well-reasoned and rapid revisions to strategy to minimize risk and maximize opportunity.
- Partner closely with program management and cross-functional teams, including R&D, clinical, regulatory, business development, commercial and finance, to advance a global development strategy
- Guide the program team in evaluating appropriate alternatives and options, and ensuring the team is aligned with key stakeholders
- Provide strategic recommendations to enhance the success of program/projects
- Coordinate and manage team activities tailored to address the specific needs of individual programs while identifying innovative approaches to both increase the speed with which therapies can get to market while enhancing the value of programs as assessed by alignment with Target Product Profiles (TPPs)
- Work with the Executive Leadership Team to define and implement best practices and balance resources across the development portfolio
- Develop executive-level presentations, summaries, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership and board of directors
- Support the formation and execution of the company business strategy, licensing activities, and portfolio management
- Promote a team culture and ensure the Program Team and other key contributors operate within Viridian’s mission and values
- Prioritize and negotiate with internal stakeholders for the required resources, including FTE’s, variable, and external resources
- Effective alliance management with all development partners
Requirements
- Requires an advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline (MD, PhD, DVM preferred)
- MBA or equivalent with significant scientific/medical knowledge or experience can be considered
- Requires 10 years of drug product development experience
- Demonstrated ability to build and effectively lead high performing cross-functional teams by modelling and ensuring leadership, accountability, and collaboration behaviors
- Knowledge and understanding of clinical development process and regulatory requirements
- Display strategic thinking capabilities, with ability make strategic recommendations, understand and communicate risks, as well as develop and execute contingency plans
- Demonstrated accountability for delivering complex development plans while managing multiple objectives and deadlines in the context of the big picture
- Ability to inspire transformative thinking and motivate employees to achieve quality-based deliverables
- Ability to manage ambiguity, and make sound scientific and business decisions with limited information
- Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders in a complex, changing, environment
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory and ICH guidance regarding clinical research and GCP
- Effective communicator with strong verbal and written skills
- Strong commitment to ethical standards
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (i.e., Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.)
- Ability to travel up to 10%
- The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
