Reporting to the Sr. Director, Forecasting & Market Insights, the Associate Director, Market Insights and Analytics will play a pivotal role in shaping the launch of the company’s first product across the U.S. and international markets. This role will focus on generating strategic insights to drive the success of the product launch and guide commercial decision-making. The ideal candidate is an experienced market researcher with a strong background in biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals, and a proven track record of supporting product launches.
This role serves as a key strategic partner to Commercial leadership, leveraging advanced market research methodologies and analytics to optimize the potential of Viridian’s portfolio. The successful candidate will have deep expertise in leading both quantitative and qualitative research, proactively uncovering market opportunities, risks, and customer insights to support business.
This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week.
Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
- Execute market research projects and analytics:
- Lead the generation of data-driven insights leveraging primary market research, analytics and secondary data to inform Commercial leadership and guide strategic decisions
- Oversee market research projects, including quantitative (attitudes and usage, demand, segmentation studies, trackers and concept tests, etc.) and qualitative (exploratory, IDIs, etc.) with a focus on both the US and key ex-U.S. markets
- Translate business problems into research objectives and integrate cross-functional questions/needs, and secures stakeholder buy-in
- Lead the exploration of innovative research methodologies to deliver faster, customer-informed insights and improve decision-making
- Lead the development of Requests for Proposals (RFPs), manage the vendor selection process and ensure projects are delivered within the approved budget
- Exercise independent judgment to ensure the quality, comprehensiveness, and timeliness of research outputs
- Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), industry regulations, and ethics guidelines
- Partner closely with Commercial team and other key stakeholders to understand their reporting and analytical KPI needs
- Proactively lead ad-hoc analyses using Commercial tools and data sets in order to address key business questions
- Support Pipeline and New Product Planning as needed by providing market insights, and customer needs analysis. Serve as a strategic business partner to guide strategic decisions for future product development and portfolio expansion
- Communicate actionable Insights:
- Present actionable insights and recommendations to Commercial leadership and other cross-functional stakeholders
- Develop and refine presentations to clearly convey complex data and findings with clear and concise calls to action
- Collaborate with stakeholders to proactively highlight opportunities, risks, and provide timely data-driven recommendations to support strategic decisions
- Cross-functional collaboration:
- Build internal stakeholder relationships and partners with Marketing, Market Access and Patient Services, Finance, New Product Planning and Medical Affairs to identify business needs and ensure insights align with broader business objectives.
- Contribute to brand processes including strategic brand plan, forecasting, pre-launch and launch planning process.
- Be seen as a trusted advisor with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders
Requirements
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree (MBA, MS, MD, PhD) preferred) with 7 years of combined market research, commercial analytics or other related fields and with at least 5 years managing global market research initiatives, including working with diverse markets and cultures
- 5 years in pharma/biotech, product launch experience required, pre-commercial experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of all types of market research methodologies, with experience of conducting both quantitative and qualitative market research from end-to-end, including strong quantitative analytical skills, data analysis and statistics
- Demonstrated leadership skills, influencing outcomes in strategic and tactical decisions
- Excellent project management skills, with ability to balance multiple projects / priorities
- Knowledge and experience with pharmaceutical data sources (e.g., prescription and sales data, patient claims data, promotional audits) preferred
- Experience with reporting and analytics tools (e.g. MS Excel, Tableau, Power BI). SAS, Python, R experience a plus
- Proven ability to communicate, strategize and collaborate effectively with senior management
- Strong analytical skills, synthesize complex ideas to simple, concise insights
- Proven mindset of proactive continuous improvement

- Minimal travel is expected of this role – ability to travel on an as-needed basis.
