Reporting to the VP of Commercial Insights, Effectiveness and Operations, the Director of Commercial Operations will be responsible for leading the development of Commercial Operations capabilities to support the launch of veligrotug, Viridian’s lead asset for Thyroid Eye Disease (TED). This position will play a critical role in preparing for and executing on Viridian’s first commercial launch and will be responsible for ensuring that Viridian’s commercial infrastructure is robust, reliable, scalable and enables key commercial processes.

The Director of Commercial Operations will have responsibility for building the commercial infrastructure that will support the launch of veligrotug and the eventual launch of VRDN-003. This role will be responsible for engaging with Field sales, Marketing and Market Access leadership to understand the priorities and needs of the commercial organization and then will work with internal partners such as IT, Analytics and Insights, Legal and Compliance to implement solutions that enable and support these stakeholders. These solutions will encompass a breadth of processes and technologies including, but not limited to, commercial infrastructure (e.g. DW, CRM, MDM) as well as territory alignments, quota modeling, incentive compensation (IC) design and administration, fleet program administration and field inquiry support.

In addition to having deep experience building, deploying and maintaining commercial infrastructure and data (e.g. CRM, Commercial DW, MDM) in support of Buy and Bill and specialty products, the successful candidate will have a deep appreciation for the importance of building and maintaining strong relationships with the teams that they support as well as their cross-functional partners. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of building these relationships based upon trust, transparent communication and flawless execution on priorities.

Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Partner with commercial leadership to align operational priorities with business objectives
  • Support Sales leadership in the development and deployment of effective incentive compensation (IC) programs including:
    • Ensuring alignment with organizational goals and sales strategies
    • Partnering with commercial leadership to define and set territory level IC targets
    • Administering IC programs including tracking reports, accruals and payouts
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to design and implement sales territories that maximize the efficiency of the field team
  • Lead a cross-functional team of internal personnel and external partners in the design and implementation of the commercial data management infrastructure including
    • Commercial Data Warehouse (CDW)
    • Master Data Management (MDM)
    • Data aggregation
    • Integration of Specialty Pharmacy, Specialty Distribution, 3PL and Patient Hub data as needed
  • Serve as the liaison between IT, Sales, Marketing, Market Access and Finance teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of commercial systems
  • Lead design, development and implementation of the CRM system
  • Develop and implement processes, policies and systems to support field operations, including but not limited to, fleet program administration, investigation and resolution of data inquiries
  • Monitor and analyze operational performance metrics to inform continuous improvement initiatives
  • Hire, lead and develop additional team members to support key functions
  • Manage Commercial Operations budget for key vendors and projects

Qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree (Advanced degree (MBA or related field) preferred) with 8+ years of experience in commercial operations within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industry
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to execute operational plans effectively
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making
  • Excellent leadership and project management skills with a track record of leading cross-functional initiatives
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal and influence skills to build partnerships across all levels of the organization
  • Experience with commercial data sets including Specialty pharmacy data, Hub data and data obtained from third party vendors (e.g. IQVIA)
  • Proven expertise in designing and managing CRM platforms, data warehouses, and master data management systems
  • Experience with incentive compensation design and administration
  • Strong understanding of field team dynamics and sales support functions. Field sales experience a plus
  • This role is based in our Waltham, MA headquarters. Our office-based employees are required to work in the office three (3) days a week
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • The salary range for this position is commensurate with experience
